Creepy Dunkin’ Commerical & Trusting That Gut Feeling
Note: This post will discuss two stories that have happened in the past 48 hours (25-26 Dec 2025). The title is not meant to be one story, but two.
On Xmas Day, I spent it at my Mom’s house with my brother Paul. We watched some of the Lions game, and the result definitely didn’t sit well with me. Lots of fumbles! I’m not a hardcore Lions fan or a big NFL fan to begin with. I’d say this year (2025-26), I’ve watched the most football I’ve watched since the 90s. Don’t want to get too tied up with Football, plus I hate sports talk radio. That influenced Rod Cambridge’s story on why he went to GoAnimate City.
While watching that game on Netflix, we saw this Dunkin’ commercial. Now we’ve seen the 30-second ad. I later discovered the 60-second ad. I thought it was cute at first, and those living Munchkins made me think of those Peons in Dice Dreams. However, that ending was pretty fucked up. When I got home, I watched the 60‑second ad, and honestly, that was more fucked. The 60-second ad showed the whole family grabbing these happy little Munchkins, and you know what’s next. That ending was disturbing to me. I went to Reddit, and now, Cinnamon Toast Crunch has some new commercials that are much more disturbing, and let’s say that they don’t hide the creepiness. Here:
In addition, I do remember a M&M commercial where one of those M&M characters eats a bowl of humans. Couldn’t find it on YouTube.
However, because this commercial creeped me out, I’m not going on a hashtag boycott on Dunkin. I’m more of a Tim Hortons guy. I love their Ice Capps! Been drinking them since 1999 and haven’t quit. I’m so used to Tim Hortons; it’s my favorite unhealthy fast-food place. Second is Arby’s. I ate Cinnamon Toast Crunch somewhere in the middle of the last decade, and my heart was beating fast; I thought I was going to have a fucking heart attack. I avoid that to this day.
The Gut Feeling
Two weeks ago, I thought it would be a good idea to see the Toledo Walleye. For those who don’t know, I live in Suburban Detroit. I’ve been to many NHL games and quite a few IHL (AAA) games when the Detroit Vipers were here. Both the league and the team are defunct, but a FPHL team then known as the Hudson Valley Venom used a similar logo. Been to many Single-A games in the FPHL, the Detroit Motor City Rockers, Port Huron Prowlers, and the previous St. Clair Shores Fighting Saints. And even one OHL game in the mid-90s. But I’ve never been to a Double-A game, and I wanted to do that.
However, during those two weeks, up to December 21st, I had a gut feeling not to go to this game. Don’t buy the ticket, don’t go. My feeling wasn’t saying ‘why’; it was just saying ‘don’t go.’ I thought Why? Weather? Car accident? Being at the wrong place in Toledo? Today (Dec 26th), there was freezing rain and some slick spots when I went grocery shopping earlier. Later, I would do my promotions on Twitter, and I saw the ECHL was trending. I saw a disagreement between the league and the players’ union. And this Twitter post.

I had no idea that the ECHL was having these problems. I’m on board with that salary increase — I didn’t realize ECHL rookies made so little. Looking back, I’m pretty relieved I didn’t make that whole trip for nothing. I even thought about stopping by the IN‑OH‑MI border, but the freezing rain talked me out of it. I suppose I can go in March, provided the strike doesn’t last that long. One of my online friends lives in the New England area, and I’ve seen his Facebook post of him at Maine Mariners games, also in the ECHL. I’d imagine he’s disappointed. Been watching the Topeka Scarecrows (FPHL) here and there. Scott Coash, TJ Sneath, and Avery Smith (former Rockers) play for that team.
