Yes, Jimmy John’s Field has become UWM Field. Not too happy with the change, but someone has money. It was a day off for me due to Juneteenth. A paid day off, and I’m not going to argue against that. When to see my personal favorite team of the four teams in the USPBL (at least the name hasn’t changed), the Eastside Diamond Hoppers. Sadly, in mid-2026, the Diamond Hoppers were doing poorly, with a record of 3-12, going against the Westside Woolly Mammoths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mammoths beat the crap out of my Diamond Hoppers 8-1, sending the Hoppers to 3-13 as of this post. It was also fireworks Friday as well! The Hoppers scored their sole run in the first inning, and the Mammoths made it 5-1 by the end of the 2nd inning. The game went mostly uneventful all the way to the bottom of the 8th where the Mammoths added three more runs. One of the heavy hitters for the Mammoths was Thomas Stevenson<\/a>, who was in the Oakland A’s farm system (unsure if he is still in there, I doubt it). He hit three RBIs and was the player of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the start of the 8th inning, there was a delay and they played Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond\u2014a song I don\u2019t like. Besides that and Shake It Off by Taylor Swift, the DJ spun a lot of \u201980s rock, such as Ozzy Osbourne (sadly no longer with us) and Billy Squier. They also played No More Tears by Ozzy. Best of all, there were no songs ordering the fans to clap, like Everybody Clap Your Hands (ugh). Yes, I know that isn\u2019t the proper title\u2014I got yapped at by somebody on Twitter for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game ended at 9:24 p.m. The announcer said the fireworks were scheduled for 15 minutes later. After each game, some of the crowd are invited to run the bases. My ass was starting to disagree with me after the tacos I ate at Mr. Miguel\u2019s. That place was busy as hell, and it took them nearly 40 minutes to get my food. I ain\u2019t mad at them, but I was mad at the situation. The Scotland vs. Morocco World Cup game was on, so I watched some of that. That was a fuck-up I take the blame for. Anyway, it took some people more than 15 minutes to get off the field, so I had to wait an extra 5. These folks would make great consultants at my job.<\/p>\n\n\n

I didn’t get terribly drunk. At Mr. Miguel’s, I had a Pepsi with a 1800 tequila shot. Never tried 1800, but it barely did anything to me. When I got in the ballpark, they had a Mr. Miguel’s stand there. Next fuck up, I bought a frozen Jack daquiri, but that didn’t do anything to me either. By the fifth inning, I would notice a beer stand behind me with Hard Cider including local Armada’s American Apple. Next time I go to Jimmy John’s Field, I’ll just chow down at the park and get beer from that particular stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
