The Henry Ford Museum 2024

Everybody’s favorite ugly bitch is back, back at The Henry Ford Museum. Since 2012, I’ve committed to going to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village every six years. This time around, Greenfield Village was closed, so just Henry Ford for this post. I was told by an employee that Greenfield Village is closed during the winter months.

I’ve been to Greenfield Village on a field trip from 1992 to 93 when I was in a Special Ed class in 4th Grade and again from 1993 to 94 while in 5th Grade, not in Special Ed and as I would refer to as ‘General Population.’ Both times during the winter months. Perhaps the folks at Greenfield Village decided not to open in the winter months anymore? Or were our field trips there a private event for us? We had to do an assignment when I went there in the 4th grade. I remember bitching at my Special Ed teacher about that; I wanted to enjoy Greenfield Village while not having to jump through hoops. We were helped by a Paraprofessional who was Special Ed friendly as I and three other people had to do the assignment.

Otherwise, I’ll just shut the hell up about my trip to Memory Lane and get to it. They had a Hockey event as their specialty. When I went there in 2012, they had the Titanic Event. I don’t recall what the special was for 2018. I enjoyed the Hockey exhibit and the photos from the 80s and 90s. They also had physical activities, mainly for children and teenagers, so I didn’t bother to put my foot in the door. It’ll be strange to see some early-40s ugly guy trying to shoot a puck and failing. Later to see my stupid-ass self on one of those Fail Army videos! (I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m on there already). There was no line when I walked into this Hockey exhibit, and I didn’t have to wait. When I left, the line was large!

I also visited the mathematics exhibit, which I was there for quite a while. For a baseball stats nerd, it was quite interesting. Until more people were walking in, and it got too crowded.

They had an area dedicated to recent history from 1960-99. With toys and other technology that existed back in those days. I was in this area for quite a while, looking at all this old ass technology. Including a Speak N Spell, I had one of those. I also entered the Rosa Parks bus and explored more of the African-American Civil Rights exhibit. Included in this area was a small documentary about Jackie Robinson. It featured interviews from Mr. Robinson’s daughter, Sharon. The late and greats Gates Brown, Ernie Harwell and Jim Price. I felt a little sad seeing Jim Price on there, seeing he’s no longer around in this sick-ass world anymore.

The room where the documentary was presented had a section for White People and Colored People. The Colored People room has an uncomfortable bench to sit on. Boy, us white people did some awful things to black people back in the day. And in the city of Eastpointe, Michigan, in 1999, quite a few white teenagers pretended to be black. White people are fucking goofy.

Besides those, I did take a look at the race car exhibit. Racing is love/hate for me. I would never attend any NASCAR event. To me, I find it ridiculous that people would watch race cars drive 500 miles around a circle. For those who participate in racing, I don’t have any problems with that. I played Nascar 99 back in 1999 and played Season Mode. While playing, I was big on smashing other cars into the walls and causing chaos. I recall playing this game with one of my friends, and he was talking about Richard Petty, who is (or was) a ruthless driver.

He asked me, “Is Richard Petty in this game?” I replied no; he then said, “Good, because if you were to smash into Richard Petty in this game, I’ll kick your ass.” Then I said, “Actually, he is in this game, I’m about to crash into him now.”

No fists were thrown, but he got upset about that. For some reason, I can’t remember if this happened in the house I lived at then or his. I also played Nascar 2008, which was far more advanced to 99, I managed to piss off all the drivers in that game. It also showed scenes of my character being attacked by fellow drivers.

There was a big Lego display, that was fun to look at and I stayed there for a while by looking at this large Lego city. Here are some pics above.

Each time I’ve visited The Henry Ford since 2012, I get my picture by these sitting statues. I already included the 2024 version at the beginning of this post, some here is 2012, 2018 and 2024:

Hopefully, I’ll be alive in 2030, and I can visit the Henry Ford for another photo of those statues (if they or I’m still around). I’ll probably visit Greenfield Village next year, along with a 3D movie at the museum. If I’m not mistaken, I can see a movie without buying a Museum ticket. I would like that!

Bye for now!
