Got to meet the great, talented, and lovely Mary McDonnell. I did say in a previous post that I wasn’t going to go to any comic cons for a while. I did say outside of this blog that I would go for special circumstances, and this one was a special circumstance. I was alerted about Mary’s entrance to the Motor City Comic Con on Tuesday. I had some intentions of going on Friday the 10th, but decided on Sunday the 12th. This was due to an early photo op and also a Q&A session. Good decision due to how awful the Friday Rush Hour traffic can be in the Detroit area. Plus, her photo op was at 5:20p. I would’ve had to leave my place at 3:30p to get there at a decent time. Also, I did meet a fellow Twitter (or now X) friend who noticed me.
The Q&A was fun to watch. Mary talked about her teenage hood and also Bill Pullman’s brother was one of her teachers while she was in high school. She talked a lot about The Fall of the House of Usher. And I got lucky with me asking the last question. I asked about Donnie Darko and she told her story. She also likes the line, “Our son just called me a bitch.” Was also looking for her input on the scene below, but she didn’t comment on that scene.
After the Q&A was over, I just simply GTFOT. Besides the thought of meeting Ralph Macchio, I didn’t really care to be there. Even Ms. McDonnell was also leaving shortly after the Q&A. I guess she wanted to GTFOT as well. Thanks to a fellow Twitter Mary fan from Europe who alerted me of that info. Hopefully, for her, Mary will visit her country.
